Ecology-based landscaping need not be a bitter pill to swallow in order to do something positive for the environment. In this session, landscape designer Larry Weaner will discuss the creation of people-friendly landscapes that also provide significant ecological function, including groundwater recharge, native plant proliferation, and wildlife habitat. By weaving fine garden techniques into an ecology-based approach we can enjoy the best of both worlds, whether enjoying an expansive public garden or our own private landscape.
Larry Weaner, FAPLD, founded Larry Weaner Landscape Associates in 1982 and established its educational affiliate, New Directions in the American Landscape, in 1990. He is nationally recognized for combining expertise in horticulture, landscape design, and ecological restoration.
